North Charleston, S.C. [November 11, 2025] The Palmetto H.O.P.E. Foundation proudly announces it has received its first grant, a $15,000 award from the Roper St. Francis Physicians Endowment and Medical Society of South Carolina. The grant will directly support the expansion of the foundation’s Medical Supply Closet, a program dedicated to providing essential medical items to vulnerable residents across the Lowcountry.

The Medical Supply Closet was created to ensure that seniors and disabled adults with limited income can access critical supplies, especially incontinence products and other medically necessary items that are often not covered by insurance or financially accessible.

“This inaugural grant is a monumental step forward for our organization,” said Dorian Nixon, Founder of Palmetto H.O.P.E. Foundation. “The need for medical supplies in our community continues to grow, and this support from the Roper St. Francis Physicians Endowment will allow us to reach more seniors and disabled adults who rely on these items for their daily comfort, dignity, and independence.”
.
The funding will strengthen the Medical Supply Closet’s capacity to serve more individuals, expand inventory, and reduce the financial burden on caregivers and families who struggle to obtain essential health products.

The Roper St. Francis Physicians Endowment supports nonprofits that enhance community health and wellness throughout the region. Their investment in the Palmetto H.O.P.E. Foundation underscores a shared commitment to closing gaps in care and supporting underserved populations.

2nd Annual HOPE Community Fair Flyer2 .png

The Palmetto HOPE Foundation proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Community Resource Fair, bringing together local organizations, families, and community members for a day of connection, support, and empowerment. Held in North Charleston, this year’s event showcased the strength of community partnership and the collective commitment to improving access to essential resources.

This annual fair is designed to connect individuals and families with vital services available throughout our community many of which are often overlooked or underutilized.

Attendees were able to meet face-to-face with agencies and organizations offering support in areas such as healthcare, senior services, family resources, mental health, education, and more.

One of the highlights of this year’s fair was the integration of a back-to-school theme, aligning with the start of the new school year. Families received helpful information, tools, and resources to ensure a strong and supported start for students returning to the classroom.  “It was truly inspiring to see so many organizations come together with a shared mission of providing resources, building connections, and creating positive impact,” said the Palmetto HOPE Foundation team. “Events like this remind us how powerful community collaboration can be.”

The foundation’s goal for the resource fair is to create an inclusive, welcoming environment that benefits all age groups from seniors and caregivers to families with young children by increasing awareness of local programs designed to improve everyday quality of life.

The Palmetto HOPE Foundation extends its gratitude to all participating partners, volunteers, and attendees who made this year’s event a success. Together, we continue to build a stronger, better-connected community one resource at a time.
